Carl Joshua Ncube returns to Harare

HARARE, HARARE PROVINCE, ZIMBABWE – A new chapter for Zimbabwe’s creative and entrepreneurial scene is beginning with the return of Carl Joshua Ncube to Harare. After time spent on various ventures since 2015, Ncube is back in the capital to launch The Capital, an incubation hub designed to bring a wide array of projects to life and foster collaborative innovation.

The Capital is born from Ncube’s diverse background, which spans stand-up comedy, hospitality consultancy, and project development. This new hub is not simply a workspace, but a dedicated environment for turning ideas into tangible realities.

“Returning to Harare feels like coming home with a clear purpose,” Ncube shared. “The Capital is being built to be a resource—a launchpad for new projects and a place where creativity can flourish through collaboration.”

The hub’s primary function is to serve as a central base for Ncube’s initiatives. This includes the further development of HOMEMAKERS, a domestic worker training curriculum inspired by his work in the hospitality industry, and the upcoming Taste of Africa magazine, which celebrates African cuisine as part of the “My Food is African” movement.

Beyond his own ventures, The Capital is designed to nurture collaborative projects with a strong community focus. Two key initiatives slated for incubation are the Go Warriors Fans movement, aimed at organizing support for the national football team, and the My Food is African Collective of Chefs, which recently saw Zimbabwean Chef Tafadzwa Anifasi elected as its President. The hub will provide these projects with the tools and network needed to grow and make a positive impact.

To offer a look at the environment being created, Ncube shared several AI-generated images of the planned space. These visuals depict an open-plan hub with dedicated areas for workshops and brainstorming, a modern training kitchen for culinary projects, and comfortable lounge areas intended to encourage networking and informal collaboration among residents.

The establishment of The Capital marks an exciting development for Harare’s entrepreneurial community. By providing a structured and supportive environment for both established and emerging projects, Ncube aims to contribute to a culture of innovation and creativity in Zimbabwe. The new hub is set to be a key player in the city’s future, built on the principle that great ideas are best realised through collaboration.
