Carl Joshua Ncube’s Masterclass: 20 Startup Ideas for the Young African Entrepreneur

My fellow African innovators, entrepreneurs, hustlers, and dreamers! Carl Joshua Ncube here, the Comedian, the Chef, the guy who moved to the village and started Rural BnB because I believe in solving my own problems, and in the process, solving yours.

I talk about monetizing what you do every day, using your core skills, and getting good before you get seen. Africa is not a continent of problems; it is a continent of solutions waiting for the right person—you—to call them into existence.

I’ve cooked up 20 startup ideas that tap into the massive shifts happening across our beautiful continent, from the power of tech to the untapped potential of our rural communities, just like my own journey. These are projects that speak to the heart of the 17–35 generation: fast, innovative, and impactful.

My Final Word

Look at this list. Every single idea is rooted in a problem we face right here in Africa. That’s the magic formula!

  1. Identify what people hate paying for. (Like paying a fortune for a taxi or for bad quality repairs.)
  2. Train yourself to get paid for doing it better. (Become the best Mobile Tech Repair person.)
  3. Start small. Bootstrap. (The “Initial Capital” is what you should aim for, but you can always start with less and grow.)

Don’t wait for permission. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. That fire you have, that ambition, that’s your capital. Now go out there and call your vision into existence!

Let there be light!
